About this Event

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (PTSD)

This Live Webinar is presented through Zoom by Dr. David Murphy on September 11 2020 from 9am to 5pm.

The workshop will discuss the scientific evidence for PTSD and how PTSD affects mental, physical, emotional and spiritual functioning. The workshop will provide a three-phase method for healing psychological trauma and will emphasize the need for clinician self-care when treating PTSD. The workshop will be recorded and the recording will be available to participants.

This webinar workshop is suitable for:

Hypnotherapists, Psychotherapists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Social Workers, Counsellors, Nurses, Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners.Hypnosis is an evidence-based treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

There is a large body of medical evidence that unresolved PTSD has a significant impact on both mental and physical health, affects the ability to work, affects personal relationships and, ultimately, reduces life expectancy. Resolving PTSD will improve quality of life and will have a lasting benefit to the overall health of the patient or client.

A clinician can use hypnotherapy techniques to help the patient or client to build resilience, resolve symptoms of anxiety or anger and challenge maladaptive behaviours and cognitive distortions. The patient or client can then learn to re-evaluate the traumatic event and re-consolidate memories , so that they can go on to live healthy and productive lives. These techniques can be incorporated into any clinical encounter.

A patient or client, who is taught Self-Hypnosis by a clinician, can learn to self-regulate emotions associated with flashbacks, hyperarousal, nightmares and triggers associated with the traumatic event.

This webinar workshop is experiential. Participants will be given lots of opportunity to practice the hypnosis techniques being taught in the workshop. During their experiential activities, participants will be asked to share their own experiences with trauma.
