I Can Calm Down: Emotional Regulation and Anger Management in Children

Katherine is a Canadian Certified Counsellor who has supported individuals and families who have special needs, particularly autism. Katherine has written an internationally known book on counselling people on the autism spectrum, and has won the 2010 Counselling Book of the Year award form the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She has been in private practice for over ten years, and is the Mental Health Director of Focus Ability WorkAble Solutions, an employment and training agency that works with people on the autism spectrum. Katherine is also a well-known local speaker on autism.
This brief workshop will discuss emotional regulation and its importance, with a focus on anger management with children. Tools and strategies will be focussed towards supporting children who are on the autism spectrum or have special needs. With adaptation these tools can be used with all children.
