About this Event

Have you heard about the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action? Do you wonder what they mean to you as your role as an early childhood educator, early years teacher or administrator? Indigenous children under six (not including those who live in First Nations communities) represent 19% of all children under six in Manitoba, compared to 5% in Canada (Healthy Child Manitoba). How does your early childhood classroom reflect your own image of the children you teach and the First Nations, Métis and Inuit of this land? Where do Indigenous children see themselves, their families, cultures and communities reflected in your playroom? How does your learning environment facilitate rich playful learning, extend and build upon children’s own interests and experiences, and support social‐emotional, emergent literacy and numeracy outcomes in developmentally and culturally appropriate ways?

Enjoy the chance to learn from colleagues from different sectors, divisions and parts of Manitoba in a day full of hands on and reflective learning, and examine many resources that can enrich your classrooms and your practice.

Lunch on your own. Brown bag welcome.
