TRADICIOUS and la Blouse Roumaine are thrilled to announce the third edition of IA Festival for June 25, 2016, at AGO - Art Gallery of Ontario.
We are celebrating a very important cultural element of Romania around the world: The Romanian Blouse. In appreciation for this timeless attire we invite you to come with your family or friends wearing your traditional blouse or ethnic costume on that day.
Please join us to enjoy nearly forgotten songs and ballads accompanied by the amazing sounds of cobza brought to us by one of Romania’s finest bard Ion Crețeanu.
The event will highlight the IA (Romanian blouses) exhibition with vintage traditional blouses from private collections and "La Muse Roumaine" - a photography exhibition by National Geographic contributor Florin Prunoiu.
A screening of the documentary film by director and producer Raul Dudnic ‘Boian – The Village That Crossed the Ocean’, the early 19th century story of the first Canadian immigrants from the north-east Romanian region of Bukovina, the challenges these resilient people had to face in the ‘new world’ will complete our event.
Rare old wood icons hand painted by artist Doru Cioată using a technique taught by Dionysius of Fourna in the 18th century.
We look forward to seeing you there.
