Description

Cycle 1

The first cycle focuses on the early relationship in Canada with Indigenous people, intergenerational trauma and an introduction of the OFIFC’s relationship framework. OFIFC facilitators will guide participants through a series of four questions: Who are Indigenous Peoples?”, “Where have they been?”, “Where are they going?” Learning can then focus on answering, “What are our responsibilities?” These questions offer a critical pathway to action that strengthens cultural awareness, informs relationship building and begins to enhance organizational programs and policies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Examine how Indigenous/non-Indigenous relationships have been impacted by historical events and how the relationship can be reframed today;
  • Introduced to policies and legislations that have impacted Indigenous communities; and
  • Introduced to a framework that enhances the relationship development with Indigenous people.
