ICISF-Canada is pleased to offer the ICISF Courses: “Assisting Individuals in Crisis” and “Group Crisis Intervention” taught by experienced ICISF Approved Instructors Jeff Sych and Malcolm McNeill as part of the development of the Alberta Critical Incident Peer Network.

The Alberta Critical Incident Peer Network is a peer-driven, peer-led network of ICISF CISM-trained peers. This volunteer network delivers real-time support to individuals, crews, or departments who have been exposed to critical incidents and are exhibiting the signs and symptoms of distress.

Basic Training in ICISF CISM is funded by a SPHIFR grant and hosted by the MD of Smoky River Fire Rescue. This is a four-day course for leadership personnel within emergency services interested in being part of a provincial Peer Support network and is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of, and a specific protocol for, incident assessment, strategic planning, individual (one-on-one) crisis intervention techniques, informational group crisis techniques, and interactive group crisis techniques. The focus is on the unique leadership role in supporting the ongoing sustainability of an integrated peer support program within the organization.
