The webinar will begin with an overview of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities provided by Mr. Steven Estey, who is a leading Canadian expert on the Convention. Mr. Estey has advanced disability rights for over three decades through his work with disability and human rights organizations, government, and United Nations agencies.

Mr. Estey’s overview will set the stage for a panel discussion about the significance of the Convention to Manitoba, with a focus on areas of concern to our panelists: Diane Driedger, Justine Kiwanuka, Mary Lavigne, and Carrie Pacey. Topics will include accessibility, employment, healthcare and equal representation before the law.

The panelists’ diverse experience includes living with visible and invisible disabilities, alongside their unique perspectives as women of settler, immigrant, Métis and Indigenous roots.
