Description

The Northwest Ontario Forum is being held in Thunder Bay and will bring together a cross-section of community and business audiences representing municipalities, Indigenous communities, energy services companies and associations to explore and provide input into the future direction of the electricity sector.

This year’s forum is intended to highlight local initiatives and specifically discuss how local needs and perspectives can factor into broader provincial electricity planning through two main interactive discussions:

• Aligning Regional and Local Energy Planning – A panel discussion on how to align planning at the system, regional and community levels. Panelists will bring perspectives from a municipality, the system operator and a first nation community to examine how community energy planning contributes to broader provincial planning.

• Connected Communities – Discussions to encourage diverse perspectives on community-based approaches to meeting energy needs.

The final agenda for the Northwest Ontario Regional Electricity Forum may be viewed here.

In preparation for the forum, the IESO will also host a discussion the day before (April 9 from 4pm to 6pm) to provide attendees (particularly those traveling in to the Thunder Bay) with an opportunity to learn more about the IESO including a presentation on Ontario’s electricity system and market and engage in discussion with IESO staff and other attendees. If you are interested in attending please email communityengagement@ieso.ca.
