Description

Location: Kwekwecnewtxw is a sacred watchhouse raised by Coast Salish spiritual leaders and members to assert Indigenous title and honour Indigenous culture and traditions. https://protecttheinlet.ca/structure/

Description: IGNITE is a two day action camp that aims to inspire, cultivate and connect young activists, by equipping them with skills to spark movements calling for social justice and human rights. There are limited spots available please register through eventbrite. This is a two day event and participants are expected to attend both days.

Sessions Include: History of the Land, Root Cause Analysis, Beautiful Trouble, Creative Digital Organizing, Grass Roots Journalism, Lobbying, Asset Mapping.

Facilitators Include:
Kanahus Manuel - Secwepemc and Ktunaxa, land and water protector with Tiny House Warriors
Sean Yap Sei-Been Devlin - Comedian, Filmmaker and Facilitator with Yes Men
Jen Castro - New Media, Artist and Designer with Digital Democracy
Jackson Weaver- Journalist, Writer and Photographer with Vice News
Ayendri Riddell - Popular Educator and Community Organizer with Amnesty International

IGNITE welcomes all young activists and deliberately encourages participation from traditionally underrepresented or marginalized communities including Indigenous people, people of colour and LGBTQ+ people.

Accessibility: Lunch will be provided and transportation subsidies from UBC are available. We are using multiple spaces email us and we will be happy to provide specifications around wheelchair accessibility.
