IIIF Showcase: improving access to image collections
Event Information
Description
IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) is a developing open standard for accessing and presenting digital images which is seeing rapid adoption by cultural heritage institutions and universities around the world. IIIF offers users and researchers deep zooming of high quality images, annotation and citation tools, and the ability to compare, co-curate or re-unite collections that have been separated. All this in a standard, interoperable way without losing control of resources.
The IIIF Showcase brings together developers and early adopters to explain the background to IIIF, its growing community and to demonstrate the potential of the Framework and the innovative ways in which it can be used to present digital image collections. There will be presentations from Edinburgh University Library, National Library of Scotland, National Library of Wales, Durham University, University College Dublin, The Bodleian Library, Digirati, Cogapp and others.
If you are interested in learning more about what IIIF is, its benefits, the technologies that underpin it and seeing examples of how others are using it, then the IIIF Showcase is for you.
The meeting will be non-technical and cover (please see the agenda for more detail)
