Event description

Description

iLunch is Interactive Ontario's monthly lunch-and-learn series that provides skills development and networking to interactive digital media producers and those in other sectors wishing to learn more or collaborate with IDM creators. Each session includes lunch, a panel discussion or presentation, Q&A and networking time.

Session Description: Collaborating with Ontario’s Colleges (Talent, research partnerships, and funding)

Ontario’s public colleges have reinvented themselves to be relevant to digital industries – including redesigned, hands-on skills development programs in interactive media management, game design/development, interaction design, digital ad creative, web design, video production, and more. As part of the reinvention, Ontario’s colleges now provide ample opportunity for small businesses to guide and provide input to curriculum development, assist with the training of emerging talent, and access applied research assistance. The Canadian and Ontario governments have also created a series of financial incentives to assist small businesses in offsetting the risk of hiring new graduates.

At this iLunch, hear from faculty and advisors from various GTA-based colleges to get tips on hiring emerging talent, research partnership opportunities, getting involved in shaping interactive media education at a post-secondary level, and funding for SMEs to hire coop students and new graduates.
