Immigration and Employers – what you need to know (Lunch and Learn)
When: October 17, 12 - 1 p.m.
Where: Volta main event space, 7th floor South, 1505 Barrington Street (Maritime Centre)
This lunch and learn will help employers to understand who is permitted to work in Canada, what they need to know when seeking to hire someone who is not Canadian or a permanent resident, and what role they can play in the process.
Sean Morency from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will explain different immigration statuses and what they mean. Also, what the various programs are and how they work for accessing foreign workers in Canada (such as international students and temporary workers already in Canada) and from outside Canada (whether as temporary workers or permanent immigrants), and where employers can get help to navigate the process. He will be available for questions after the session, also.
Lunch will be provided.
