About this event
Join us for OCASI GBV Program Webinar on the Impact of COVID-19 on (in)accessing English classes for Non-Status, Immigrant, and refugee (NSRI) women.
NSRI women deal with multiple stressors and vulnerabilities during COVID-19, including difficulties accessing opportunities to learn English and a lack of social support. During COVID-19, many NSRI women could not upgrade their language and technical skills (required to secure jobs) due to limited finances, childcare responsibilities at home, limited social support, and interruptions in skill upgrade courses offered for refugee families by public libraries/settlement organizations. Our panellists, Dr.Daina Wattar, Dr. Melike Zehra Polat and Maha Amini, will discuss how COVID-19 impact accessing language learning for Non-Status, Immigrant and Refugee Women and how this affects NSRI women experiencing GBV.
