Margaret Leslie Dip.C.S., C.Psych.Assoc.Director of Child and Family Services at the Canadian Mothercraft Society

Participants will

  1. Review the evidence on the impact of substance use on pregnancy and birth outcomes.
  2. Increase awareness of the impact of perinatal substance use on attachment and infant mental health.
  3. Review strategies to support individuals using substances in the perinatal period.
  4. Participate in a comprehensive overview of the complexity of addictions and substance use in pregnancy.
  5. Increase knowledege of local community resources for individuals using substances in pregnancy in the KFL&A area.

This workshop is intended for anyone who provides support and care during the perinatal period including: health care providers, midwives, primary care providers, nurses, dietitians, social service providers and prenatal educators.
