About this event
Interested in learning about how artistry and creativity can benefit medical research? Join the University of Calgary's Snyder Institute Trainee Committee and STEM Art Hub in a conference focused around the integration of art and science.
This is a day-long event geared towards individuals interested in the grey space between the arts and the sciences. The event will feature a gallery of artworks created by UCalgary students and faculty members, as well as local artists – all of which have personal stories rooted in the medical sciences, and healthcare as whole. Seminars and workshops will be hosted by varying professionals, all of whom will speak to the importance of artistry and creative thinking in science-driven careers.
The event will occur in two parts. The morning/afternoon portions of the event (9:00am-4:00pm at the Health Science Center, UCalgarry Foothills Campus – HRIC Atrium + Theatre 1) are open only to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Calgary. Tickets will permit access to seminars, workshops, lunch, and the gallery viewing. All proceeds will be donated towards therapeutic arts programs and initiatives around Calgary hospitals.
The evening reception (6:00-8:00pm at Calgary Central Library – Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall) is open to all members of the Calgary community. Tickets are free of charge, and will include access to the gallery, as well as a seminar by Dr. Antoine Dufour (Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UCalgary).
Details regarding the event itinerary and specific locations will be provided to registrants prior to July 22nd. Upon any inquiries, please email us dirrectly at: sitc@ucalgary.ca.
