Event: Improve gender equality in Canada by sharing your insights.
Platform: Zoom Meeting (Details will be emailed to you after registration)
This has been a year like no other, and the Canadian Women’s Foundation needs your help to chart a new course towards gender equality.
In 1991, visionary feminists founded the Canadian Women’s Foundation to build a path toward equality. 30 years later, we move into an uncertain future. The pandemic has shaken the foundations of progress and exacerbated the cracks of inequality: rising gendered violence, the demands of unpaid caregiving, the devaluing of “women’s work”, and a widening poverty gap, to name a few. And the gaps are greater for those who face more barriers due to racism, ableism, transphobia, heterosexism, and other forms of discrimination.
As Canada’s public foundation for gender equality, the Canadian Women’s Foundation has raised more than $130 million to fund over 2,000 life-transforming programs throughout the country. And we sit at every significant policy table that effects the lives of women, gender diverse people. With you by our side, we can drive permanent change.
We need volunteers who are passionate about gender equality to help us shape our messaging, fundraising and public engagement.
Please volunteer for a 60 minute virtual focus group where we will dive into your thoughts on:
- The biggest barriers you see for women, girls and gender diverse people in Canada
- The best opportunities you see to advance inclusion for women, girls and gender diverse people
- How we can quantify meaningful change
- The most impactful way to engage Canadians in the movement for gender equality
These sessions will be facilitated by the Canadian Women’s Foundation and there will be some light advance reading.
Dates:
- Tuesday, May 4 from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM (Eastern)
- Friday, May 7 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (Eastern)
- Monday, May 10 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM (Eastern)
Please register with your preferred date only.
About the organizer
The Canadian Women’s Foundation is a national leader in the movement for gender equality in Canada. Through funding, research, advocacy, and knowledge sharing, the Foundation works to achieve systemic change that includes all women. By supporting community programs, the Foundation empowers women and girls to move themselves out of violence, out of poverty, and into confidence and leadership.
Launched in 1991 to address a critical need for philanthropy focused on women, the Canadian Women’s Foundation is one of the largest women’s foundations in the world. With the support of donors, the Foundation has raised more than $90 million and funded over 1,900 programs across the country. These programs focus on addressing the root causes of the most critical issues, and helping women and girls who face the greatest barriers.
