Organizer WATERSHED+ in partnership with The Art Gallery of Calgary

Organizer of IN DISCUSSION / Residencies in Context

In 2007, The City of Calgary Public Art Program and the Utilities & Environmental Protection (UEP) department launched the visionary UEP Public Art Plan. The Plan is founded on the principle that public art, in collaboration with other disciplines, can create remarkable places that encourage sustainability and stewardship of the environment.

One of many projects outlined in the Plan, WATERSHED+ was developed by an artist-led multidisciplinary team as a ground-breaking program to embed artists and the artistic practice within UEP’s core activities. Now in its pilot phase, WATERSHED+ proposes a long term plan to build an emotional connection between Calgary’s citizens and their watershed, by placing creativity at the heart of UEP’s projects and initiatives.
