Event description
GIDSA Symposium focusing on the future of Development Studies after COVID-19 and ways to move forward after pandemics

About this Event

This half-day symposium will be the concluding event to GIDSA’s online 2020 summer series, “Resiliency & Innovation in COVID-19".  This symposium seeks to involve interactions between graduate students, faculty, and actors from the public/ private sector on an open and productive discussion of what the post COVID-19 world may look like. The impacts of COVID-19 on the Global North and Global South are constantly evolving at rapid paces and varying spatial scales. The implications of the pandemic have resulted in the collapse of institutions and failed systems at a global level. Our previous “normalcy” may cease to exist as we know it. As current and future thought-leaders, how can we contribute to reinventing the failed parts of our current system using the lessons we have learned from COVID-19? This symposium will use interdisciplinary brainstorming to discover the possibilities that lie beyond our current ways of knowing, at the intersection of the economy, the environment and global society. The time for revolutionary thinking is now.
