Event description

Description

Join us for our upcoming learn@lunch at Southridge Jam Co.’s production facility in Vineland. Brendon Nicholson, Program Director at the Southridge Jam Company, will lead us through their story: how and why they started, and how they’ve grown to be the thriving social enterprise they are today. Brendon has learned about social entrepreneurship while building this enterprise and will have interesting insights to share about social entrepreneurship, its impact on the community as well as some of the challenges they have faced.

Brendon’s Bio:

Brendon Nicholson is the Program Director for the Southridge Jam Company, the social enterprise extension of the Southridge Shelter, which provides job and life skills training to individuals who have experienced homelessness in Niagara through the small-batch production of jams and jellies. Along with volunteers, program participants are involved in every stage of the production, promotion and sales of the locally-sourced jams and jellies; all profits from the enterprise are reinvested into the activities of Southridge Shelter. Brendon’s background in hospitality lead him to the Shelter in 2012 when he began a 3-year stint working on the floor of the Shelter as a Resident Service Manager overseeing daily operations. In addition to the oversight of the Jam Company, Brendon is responsible for volunteers, communication, programs and events for Southridge Shelter.
