About this event
Together, with the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund and Destination Northern Ontario, Ontario Culture Days will host our second annual symposium in June 2022. ON-Ramp: New Horizons in Cultural Tourism is a two-day event investigating the state of reopening for the arts, culture and tourism sectors.
Taking place in-person in Toronto as well as online, the symposium will focus on arts and culture destinations in the context of regenerative tourism, diversity and inclusion, and offer industry expert advice on reopening better.
Your IN-PERSON ticket will include:
- Access to both days of in-person programming
- Access to digital content
- Evening reception, night of June 8
- Opportunity to join a walking tour
The schedule has been announced, and highlights include:
- Black Tourism: Trends and Expectations, where Jacqueline Scott of Black Outdoors and the University of Toronto will offer suggestions on how to engage Black travellers, an often overlooked growth sector
- Understanding Economic Impact: What Role Does Culture Play? A lively discussion on the economic impact of arts and culture, with speakers Kathleen Sharpe, Tim Jennings, and Vikas Kholi
- Multi-sector Collaboration in Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma: Connecting Culture and Tourism Through Compelling Visitor Experiences, a panel on how organizations from the tourism and cultural sectors have come together to create, market and execute compelling cultural experiences
- The Creative Sector and Placemaking: Artists as Part of Healthy Communities, Craft Ontario leads a panel on fostering support for artists while building resilient, local cultural capacity
… and more to come. Visit the event website for details.
In-person symposium events will follow all COVID-19 protocols as established by public health, and all organizational policies as determined by Ontario Culture Days and symposium venues.
Ontario Culture Days is committed to ensuring as accessible an environment as possible for our programming/events. If you require ASL interpretation for this symposium, please let us know by emailing info@onculturedays.ca by May 13, 2022.
