Description

Including Patient Advisory Groups in Your Research

Date and Time: March 13, 2019, 12-1 p.m.

Including patients’ perspectives is an important way to ensure that healthcare research is relevant. Granting agencies are increasingly requiring plans for how researchers will involve patients’ perspectives in their projects. To facilitate patient involvement in research, the Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management and Perioperative Medicine created a patient advisor group. This session will cover the role of the group in the Department, as well as challenges and successes experienced in its development. Jillian Banfield (PhD) facilitates research in the Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management and Perioperative Medicine. She completed the Foundations training from the International Association for Public Participation, is a patient advisor for the Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit, and works to elevate the voices of patients in healthcare research.

Presenter: Dr. Jillian Banfield, Senior Research Associate, Anesthesia Research NSHA

Location: RMU Multimedia Room, Room 114, Centre for Clinical Research, 5790 University Avenue, Halifax

**This session is open to the Health Research community across Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada.**
