India's Covid-19 Crisis & Canada's role in Emergency Relief
About this event
India is experiencing the devastating impact of COVID-19. From threatening its healthcare system, to a growing crisis of orphaned children, to claiming lives and leaving already vulnerable families in crisis. The situation in India reminds us that this outbreak is not just a crisis for India, it is a crisis for everyone.
In April, a coalition of Canadian leaders and KBF Canada partnered with vetted and trusted nonprofit organizations in Canada, India and internationally to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic in India as efficiently and effectively as possible through charitable projects. Through the generous support of Canadians, the India Covid-19 Relief Fund has raised ~ $500,000 and millions in donated PPE.
Join us on Friday June 11th to discuss the current crisis in India, the impact of the India Covid-19 Relief Fund and the role of Canada’s government and people to support these efforts.
The discussion will be moderated by Globe and Mail’s Rita Trichur. Her latest piece in the Globe explores the situation in India “From tragedy to transformation: How Canada and India can help each other recover from COVID-19.” The discussion Friday will include: Senator Ratna Omidvar; Vanessa D’Souza, CEO of SNEHA; Rahul Singh, Executive Director of GlobalMedic; Jindi Singh, National Director of Khalsa Aid Canada; Anshu Gupta, Founder of Goonj; Sabina Vohra-Miller, Co-Founder of Vohra Miller Foundation; Benoit Fontaine, Executive Director of KBF Canada; Narinder Dhami, Managing Partner of Marigold Capital.
