Share Indigenous Cultural Competency Training for Water Tech Companies: Two Day Workshop

In partnership with the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC), WaterTAP is pleased to offer a two-day workshop for Ontario water technology companies that wish to improve their cultural competency. Join us on August 22-23 to learn about building and fostering stronger relationships and improving cross-cultural understanding.

 

Day One: Tuesday, August 22, 2017 | 10 a.m to 4 p.m Location: Ontario Investment and Trade Centre, 250 Yonge Street, 35th Floor, Toronto

Led by the OFIFC, this immersive workshop will lead you and your peers to improve and explore:

  • Basic understandings of cultural information including historic trauma and key historic markers
  • Best practices for improved engagement and building trust
  • Indigenous culture-based practices and priorities

Facilitators and Guest Experts: Nicole Meawasige and Jeffery Ross | Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres

Light breakfast and lunch provided.

 

Day Two: Wednesday, August 23, 2017 | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ontario Investment and Trade Centre, 250 Yonge Street, 35th Floor, Toronto

Guest Experts will share their experiences and insights to help you understand if your organization is ready to offer water technology solutions to Indigenous communities, and where to start.

Facilitator: Lesley Herstein, Manager of Policy | WaterTAP

Guest Experts to include:

  • Martin Hildebrand, P.Eng., President and Head of Research | Nexom
  • Frank Li, P. Eng., Vice President | Napier-Reid

Light breakfast and lunch provided.

 
Note: Participants must complete Day One in order to participate in Day Two. Participants are asked to prepare to be offline for both sessions. Cell phones and other communication devices will not be permitted in the meeting space.
