In this training we will learn:
- about the current state of public health emergency and the toxic drug supply
- how we got here, prohibition, racism & drug policy
- the numbers/stats & why Indigenous folks are highly impacted
- decolonizing substance use & Indigenous harm reduction
- plant medicines for harm reduction, withdrawal management & recovery
- injectable & nasal naloxone training & the Save Me Steps
- how to create safe, inclusive, community spaces for learning
- trauma & resiliency informed facilitation skills
The facilitators for this training are an Indigenous harm reduction educator and people with lived/living experience sharing their personal perspectives of harm reduction, substance use, addiction, and recovery. An Elder will join us to open and close in a good way. ~*
All people who work in harm reduction, in Indigenous community, or with Indigenous people, or anyone who loves someone who uses substances are welcome to register for this training.
Please note: You must attend the entire two days of training to attain your certification as an Indigenous Harm Reduction Workshop facilitator. The tuition fee of $147 CDN enrolls you in both days of training.
