Event description
This two-day workshop will take place on Thursday, January 23 and Friday, January 24 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm each day.

About this Event

This two-day workshop will explore how we may take the journey toward engaging with Indigenous perspectives in science and math classrooms in Alberta. Our leaders will model and show us that this process is based upon building relationships -- with one another, with the land, and with our own worldviews. We will introduce references and resources surrounding Indigenous practices and technologies as they might apply, and teachers can tailor their workshop experience to their grade level and subject area (e.g. High School, Junior High or Elementary Science or Math). Teachers can expect to be challenged, and to also begin developing practices in their classrooms that they can use for and with their students.

The two-day workshop will be held on Thursday, January 23 and Friday, January 24 from 9:00 am to 3:30. The location will be the University of Alberta, Education Centre South (Room TBA).

Our facilitators will include an Indigenous Elder, a scholar in this area, and a master teacher. Each of our workshops is different, so if you've attended before and would like to attend again, you are welcome!
