The Journal of Commonwealth Law, in cooperation with the Faculties of Law at the Université de Montréal, the University of Cape Town, and Western University will host a symposium devoted to exploring the issues inherent in Indigenous private law. We hope to explore a variety of questions, including, What norms govern matters relating to Property, Persons and Family, or Succession? Is there an Indigenous law of Contract or Tort, or a law relating to (commercial) associations? The conference will offer perspectives from around the Commonwealth from different theoretical frames of reference or methodologies of inquiry. Please plan to join us.
