Inequity in Instruction Forum for Vancouver High School Families & Students
Event Information
About this Event
MEETING WEDNESDAY, MARCH 10, 7:30 - 9:30 PM
As local MLAs, we have heard from many parents who are concerned that their children are receiving fewer hours of instruction than their peers in the rest of the province. Vancouver is the only school district that does not provide a minimum of 75% of the regular instruction hours. During this forum, parents and students will present their concerns and discuss their experiences.
This is an opportunity to families to share their stories and concerns as a presentation to Vancouver School Board Trustees, Staff and BC NDP Vancouver Members of the Legislative Assembly, about the impacts of the current instruction hours inequity.
NOTE: Parents wishing to speak at the event are encouraged to share their points of concern, individual stories, and questions related to instruction hours by emailing MLAParentsForum@gmail.com with their stories and their full name as it appears on Zoom.
Parents and students who have e-mailed stories in advance may be called on during the forum to share their experiences. If you wish to remain anonymous, please let us know and our host will accommodate. All stories will be compiled and shared with Vancouver School Board Trustees, Staff, and with the Ministry of Education.
Please email questions to MLAParentsForum@gmail.com in advance as the Zoom chat feature will be disabled during this meeting.
The format of this meeting and event program is intended to convey questions and concerns from parents and students on the current instruction model. If you have other concerns related to the K-12 system, please contact you local MLA office or write directly to the Vancouver School Board staff and trustees.
