Description

This Graduate Diploma in Advanced Professional Studies in Education (GDE) has been developed by Field Programs in partnership with School District #37, Delta for K-12 teachers interested in inclusive, holistic and innovative curricular design and in developing your teaching practice while engaging in sustained reflective inquiry.

Classes run in the evenings or weekends in all terms (Fall, Spring and Summer) of the academic year during the 2-year program. There is a one-week Summer Institute in August and no classes in July.

  • Examination and implementation of BC’s New Curriculum

  • Planning for new course/grade levels

  • Inclusive curriculum design

  • Cross-curricular, interdisciplinary and holistic learning

  • Curriculum design for diverse classrooms

  • Responsive teaching

  • Engaging with Indigenist and holistic approaches to teaching and learning (First Peoples Principles of Learning)

  • Identity and intercultural perspectives

  • Assessment and Communicating Student Learning (CSL)

Ideally Suited For:

This two-year, 30-unit program of study is for teachers whose primary focus is school-based educational practice. It provides the opportunity to engage in focused, sustained reflective inquiry. Completion of the diploma allows teachers to move from TQS category 4 to TQS 5 or from category 5 to 5+.

GDE Features: Range of Program Themes, Cohort Based, 2 years (6 terms), and TQS Upgrade Opportunity.

Programs are open to teachers outside of the hosting school district. You do not need to be a part of that school district to apply or be admitted into the program. The classes will, however, take place in the hosting school district.
