Event description

Description

Join us in the Old English tradition of storytelling, poetry, and making offerings to the earth.

Apple Wassailing has a rich history but has made a resurgence in recent years. Learn about the varied traditions, and then you can host your own apple wassail with friends and family!

There are a variety of ways to make this magical apple-based beverage. (We’ll be making the non-alcoholic one.)

In this workshop, you will learn how to infuse apple cider with herbs and spices. The base ingredient will be Lush Valley's fresh-pressed ‘Backyard Blend’ apple juice, made from fruit that was harvested from trees in back yards across the Comox Valley. In addition to making the Wassail, we will have some healthy snacks to munch on.

If you have any special herbs/flowers (fresh or dried) or spices you would like to infuse into your own concoction, please bring them with you.

What is Wassailing? In the cider-producing regions of England and Germany, wassailing refers to a traditional ceremony that involves singing and drinking to the health of trees on Twelfth Night, in the hopes that they might better thrive.
