Speaker Bios

Jennifer Wenzel: In the span of a day, Jennifer’s priorities might shift from blue sky strategic planning to the intensity and adrenaline of mobilizing people to respond to sudden-onset disasters. As a result, Jennifer is passionate about human resources emergency preparation.

Julie Lavergne: Julie is an engineer turned HR professional. Her career and travel accomplishments can be described in the same manner; numerous, varied and off the beaten track. Her passion for critical thinking has helped her build processes, teams and departments across the company in operations, finance, quality, systems, risk and now OD; answering the questions "What are we ultimately trying to achieve and how do we best get there?"

Julie has a Master's degree in Engineering Management and has worked at CBN for 13+ years. CBN is an Ottawa based, private company that builds solutions that prevents fraud in payment, identification and lottery markets worldwide.

Louise H Reid: As a passionate Human Resources leader and Certified Coach, Louise brings more than 18 years’ experience leading the development and implementation of HR solutions, programs, and services in support of key business challenges. Louise has worked in a variety of work environments, both unionized and non-unionized, within start-up, medium and large companies. In addition, Louise has broad industry experience having worked in a variety of sectors - utilities, aviation, pharmaceuticals, and high tech.

Today, Louise’s mission is clear. Working as an entrepreneur and a senior consultant at Stratford Managers, Louise blends her HR experience, education in science, positive psychology, wellness, and HR to awaken women and workplaces by:

  • elevating professional women in both life & leadership; helping them gain clarity, courage and take aligned action.
  • transforming organizations through humanizing leadership; helping leaders deliver results and develop people by leading with head AND heart.

Gina Maddalena: Gina Maddalena is the Manager, HR Programs at Canopy Growth Corporation. At Canopy, Gina's portfolio includes total rewards and system, most importantly her favorite Canopy Guiding Principle is inspiring passion because that's what HR does for her. Gina's HR career has taken her to different organizations and industries each with different cultures and employee engagement experiences. When she's not diving into HR adventures, she volunteers with HRPA, Ottawa, Region Rewards and paddles Dragon Boatwith the Blades of Glory.

Shawna David: With experience working across several industries in the private and public sectors, Shawna has developed a wealth of knowledge and experience in fostering thriving learning and performance cultures.

Her passion is supporting the hearts, heads and hands of people in pursuit of achieving collective goals and vision and believes the most important ingredient to success for any organization is its people.

Outside of work, Shawna enjoys life's adventures and simple pleasures. You can usually find her on Lac McGregor, spending time with her husband and three kids who keep her equal parts busy and happy.

Heather Tyrie: Heather has a diverse background with 20 years of experience in both large and small organizations in the public and private sector. A versatile leader who has worked in IT and Marketing as well as Human Resources, Heather is passionate about creating great foundations for companies to grow and succeed.

Heather currently works at You.i TV, a Kanata-based company that has developed an app experience platform that powers stunning video experiences on every screen, and turns TV viewers into users, buyers and fans. In the last five years, You.i TV has grown from 65 employees in Canada to a team of 250 all over the globe.

Prior to You.i TV, Heather worked at Minto Developments Inc, Newbridge Networks, iMPath Networks and Industry Canada.

Heather has a degree in Industrial Relations from McGill University and is an Ottawa native with two lovely daughters and a lively dog.

Mark Snedden: Mark is known as a conduit for sustainable evolution in both people and business.

He was a past executive in the Social Service sector. Now, Mark passionately supports CEO’s & Executives teams to shift & evolve their workplace culture. His aproach is co-creative and human centric.
