Description

In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, we are hosting special, after hours, tours of the CLS.

Come explore our facility, one of the largest science projects in Canada’s history, and find out how scientists from around the world have:

  • Created a technique to turn any blood into a universal type resembling O
  • Developed an innovative method to produce medical isotopes
  • Identified the double helix structure of RNA, fifty years after scientist first hypothesized it
  • Developed techniques to image plants and our living world in an unprecedented way
  • Designed the first synchrotron experiments aimed at making oil extraction cleaner and more efficient

These special tours run from March 30 to April 3.

This event is in participation with Innovation 150, a nationwide program from five leading science organizations that celebrates Canada's innovative past and sparks the ideas and ingenuity that will propel our future. The interactive, yearlong program offers awe-inspiring experiences in science, technology, and innovation across the country for Canada’s 150th anniversary.

The Canadian Light Source is a national research facility, one of the largest science projects in our country’s history, and the brightest light in Canada—millions of times brighter than even the sun—used by over 1,000 scientists from around the world every year in ground-breaking health, environmental, materials, and agricultural research.
