Keynote Speaker

Kevin Rose, BA (Hons), BEd, PAED, EcD | National Program Manager, NACCA

Originally from the Mississauga’s of the Credit First Nation, Kevin is an entrepreneur, avid hunter, outdoorsman, sports enthusiast and organized minor sports coach. Kevin is an accomplished economic and business development professional and educator with more than 22 years experience working with individuals, organizations, First Nations, Provincial and Federal governments. His work experience includes; National Program Manager, Senior Business Development Officer, College and University Professional Development courses instructor, lecturer, directorships on numerous boards, presidency with local community associations as well as owning and operating a professional business consulting corporation entitled Northern Approach. Throughout his work in Ontario and Canada, he has been instrumental in establishing, expanding or acquiring over 500 businesses and provided consulting services to more than 1600 SME entrepreneurs. This has resulted in excess of $54 million in direct project approvals with a 98% success rate. Most recently, Kevin sold 100% of his shares in the largest full service marina on the best freshwater boating in the world.

Kevin is the first First Nation person in history to earn both the Economic Development Designation (EcD) and Professional Aboriginal Economic Development Designation (PAED). In addition, he is also the First First Nation person to assume both Presidencies of both National Economic Development Associations in Canadian history; EDAC and CANDO. Mr. Rose earned his honours degree from Trent University, a Bachelor of Education degree from Queen’s University, Economic Development professional certification from the University of Waterloo, completed the Canadian Environmental Assessment Training, competed the BR&E certification from the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, and Commerce Officer training from Industry Canada. Most recently, Kevin has completed an Executive Management course at Harvard University.

To compliment his diverse work experience, Mr. Rose was also the proud recipient of the 2009 Young Leader of the Year Award from Trent University and a 2008 40 Under Forty Northern Ontario Business Leader of the Year Award.

Kevin has 3 children and 4 stepchildren with his partner Karen. He dedicates his time between Sault Ste Marie and Manitoulin Island.
