Event Details

Some of the most innovative sustainable building projects are found on First Nation Reserves across Canada.  Right here in Manitoba, Nelson House is on track to becoming the country’s first net-zero community in the country.

Located in Northern Manitoba, 850 KM North of Winnipeg, Nelson House is not just building their houses with sustainable building techniques, they are also bringing their community members along by training them to build the houses.

Join us at this Lunch and Learn to hear Jody Linklater speak about Nelson House’s strategy to become both net-zero and energy sovereign.  Learn about the infrastructure that is being built to allow for enclosed year-round building. Find out about the training program they are using to empower their community.  Discover the materials they are using to address the challenges of Manitoba’s damp climate to ensure an extended life span of their constructions.

There is much to learn from building in Manitoba’s harsh north and this is an excellent opportunity to do just that.
