LaTeX Workshop 1: THE BASICS


FOR WHOM?

The Office of the PhD Program Director in association with the HEC Montréal Library is organizing LaTeX Workshop 1: The Basics. This workshop is covering the basics of the LaTeX document preparation system. It is intended for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students with no prior knowledge of the system.

WORKSHOP PREREQUISITES

A portable computer is required for this workshop (provided by the participant) and you must sign up for a free account on Overleaf before attending the workshop.


INSTRUCTOR: Benoit Hamel

Holding an Information and Library Technologies college diploma, Benoit Hamel works at HEC Montréal Library as technician since August, 2009.

In his quality of Web developer and self-taught programmer, passions which he practises since is teenage years, he knew how to make a special place as the geek of the library. For this one, he configured and programmed interfaces and other web applications as well as automated several manual tasks by means of applications conceived in Visual Basic for Applications.

Since a few years, Benoit Hamel developed an expertise with LaTeX in order to offer tools for scientific writing as well as support to HEC MONTREAL's community . Also, quite recently, he started developing an expertise as Python programer to support the library services in research data manipulation and processing.
