INSIGHTS ON CANADA’S TRANSITION TO ELECTRIC MOBILITY”

The McMaster University Institute for Transportation Logistics (MITL) is delighted to invite you to a special event to update attendees on the final insights and results from their five-year SSHRC funded research project titled: The Social Costs and Benefits of Electric Mobility Canada. This research project was unique in scope, reaching out to over 20,000 Canadians at two intervals to determine their views on electric mobility and preferences on automotive choices. It also analyzed the economic, environmental and health impacts of electric vehicles. As such, it is currently the largest National Consumer EV Survey.

This event will take place in the Great Hall at the Ron Joyce DeGroote School of Business, McMaster Campus located at 4350 South Service Road in Burlington, Ontario. The program starts at 10:00 am and concludes at 3:45 pm. This event is free of charge, however registration through Eventbrite is required. A light lunch and free parking are also included.

Our luncheon keynote will feature Dr. Kara Kockelman from the Centre of Transportation Research, University of Texas, Austin who will speak on: “Exciting Times for Electric Vehicles”

Presentations will include:

  • Important Results from the 2018 National Consumer EV Survey and Comparisons with the 2015 Survey”
  • The Potential for Adopting EV Technology by Canadian Automotive Fleets
  • Older Drivers: Attitutdes Towards Autonomous Technologies and Electric Vehicles
  • Climate Change and the Importance of Electric Vehicles
  • Economic Implications of Changing Policies on Government EV Incentives
  • Optimal Charging Station Locations in the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area
  • Summing Things Up (2014-2018): What Has Our Research Uncovered?

The event concludes with a panel of Canadian experts discussing the barriers to overcome in order for electric vehicles to prosper in Canada.
