About Your Speakers
Tony Orsi is a partner with Bereskin & Parr LLP and co-leader of the firm's Fintech practice group. Tony’s practice focuses on patents with an emphasis on electrical, biomedical, software, and cleantech innovations as well as patent drafting, evaluating new technologies, and IP management strategies. Tony advises startups on IP strategy to help them protect their innovations and be ready for investors right from the beginning of the start-up phase.
Meghan Dillon is a partner, lawyer and registered trademark agent at Bereskin & Parr LLP. Meghan's practice focuses on all aspects of brand protection. Her trademark practice includes providing opinions and advice on registrability, filing and prosecuting applications, representing clients before the Trademarks Opposition Board in opposition and expungement proceedings, and assisting clients with the management of their domestic and international trademark portfolios.
Meghan has experience in negotiating and drafting various types of author agreements from working for several years at a well-known Canadian publishing house. During this time, she also obtained a Certificate in Publishing from Ryerson Polytechnic University.
Taran Bassan is the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Northern Ontario Angels. She specializes in omni-channel digital marketing, program development, brand development, event coordination, and graphic design.
She has a demonstrated history of strategic planning and creative designing with experience from the Museum of Inuit Art, Bata Shoe Museum, Canadian Contemporary School of Art, architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson and Link North. She’s worked on integrated campaigns for ROADS House Publishing, the Canadian National Exhibition, and Arta Gallery as well as for private clients.
She holds a specialist degree in Fine Art History from the University of Toronto and a certificate in Multimedia Storytelling & Digital Content Marketing from the University of Toronto.
