Our final Interact of 2016 is focused on Design & Usability. The presentation will highlight Humber College’s one-of-a-kind Usability Lab. This “Live Lab” is a full-fledged usability lab where content creators can capture and assess the interaction between user and design. Designed with flexibility at its core, it has been equipped with a broad variety of technology, supporting usability testing at many different levels of sophistication.
The presentation will be delivered by George Paravantes MFA IxD, an Interaction Designer and Program Coordinator of the Multimedia Design Program. As a Design Instructor his area of expertise are in UX and mobile UI, web, motion design, and interface design. George holds a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Interaction Design from the Umea Institute of Design in Sweden. With over 15 years of international work experience which include RIM, Nokia, Volkswagen, Drive Design UK, along with consulting work with mobile starts-ups in Toronto. George’s approach to his teaching and design work is that design brings stories to life, and the goal for his students is to be inspired and empowered to confront and solve tomorrows design problems.
George was recently awarded two user interface design patents while working at Volkswagen AG in Germany on the subject matter of mobile phone and vehicle interface integrations. His ability to help students focus on disruptive thinking in their design work is a real asset to have faculty of such a high level and an ability to share these experiences with students.
