Description

On Saturday April 13th at Riverdale High School in Pierrefonds, the Youth Stars will be hosting the second annual Intercultural Youth Music and Dance Festival.

The festival will be a family event open to the public and geared towards youth between the ages of 6 and 18 yrs and will be hosted by Malik Shaheed. The festival’s main goal is to promote intercultural exchange through music and dance workshops, panel discussions and a showcase.

Dance, Theater & Music Workshops

For dance, the first workshop will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm (hip hop dance) and the second one from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm (New Style Hip Hop Dance workshop). The music workshop will take place from 10:30 am to 11:30 am and the theater workshop from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm.

Panel Discussion

The festival will feature a panel discussion at 2:00 pm hosted by speakers from visible and non-visible minority groups. The panel will discuss how minorities are portrayal by the Quebec government and its effects on the general population. They will discuss the importance of understanding culture and diversity through intercultural dialogue. Topic 2 will be about “The impact of interculturalism on dance, music, beauty, fashion and pop culture”.

Showcase

Finally, the youth will have the opportunity to showcase their own dance choreography and music performances to celebrate and showcase interculturalism! The showcase is free for all participants.

This ticket is exclusivly for people to perform for free to participate in the workshops, panel discussions and showcase
