Intermediate Natural Dyeing – Sydney
Date: Sunday, October 14, 2018
Location: Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design
Time: Full Day – Exact Time TBC
Instructor: Caitlin Ffrench
Fee: $100 plus HST

Participants will learn how to naturally dye a rainbow of colours from plants that were ethically harvested from the land base as well as exotic natural dyes. Participants will be working with 2″x2″ squares of wool that were scoured, mordanted with alum, and in some instances dyed in preparation for shifting the colour with a modifier.

Caitlin ffrench is a textile artist and painter working in East Vancouver (unceded Coast Salish Territories). Caitlin received a BFA from the University of British Columbia (Okanagan) and she attended the Kootenay School of the Arts for their textile program. Caitlin has a thoughtful practice and is committed to respecting the land through her environmental and organic processes. She is multi-talented and her skills are transferable across craft media including textile, painting, knitwear design, natural dyes, and botanical inks.
