How has the law changed for mothers?

About this Event

In the case of Fraser v. Canada, plaintiff’s Joanne Fraser, Allison Pilgrim, and Colleen Fox described the balance of work and family as overwhelming, like running on a treadmill, and oftentimes even “hell on earth.” With these challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, women are facing incredible barriers in their career with “impacts [that] could last a lifetime” (New York Times) due to, among other things, increased demand for childcare. On March 8th, International Women's Day, we will be joined by scholar Amanda Watson, author of “The Juggling Mother: Coming Undone in the Age of Anxiety” and lawyer Clea Parfitt, in a conversation about how the law reinforces inequalities for women today. Join us while we expand on how far we’ve come, and the changes we continue to need.

*Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a copy of “The Juggling Mother: Coming Undone in the Age of Anxiety” by filling out this form.”
