International Womens' Day with Neva Tesolin

International Womens' Day with Neva Tesolin

By Untitled Ensemble

Overview

A celebration of the brilliance of women composers past and present and the world premiere of Neva Tesolin's new work written for us!

Join us for the world premiere of Neva Tesolin's new work, "Woodlands" for oboe, viola, and piano and works by Eleanor Alberga, Nadia Boulanger, Cait Nishimura and more!

The Untitled Ensemble was formed in 2020 to perform chamber music works by women. Over the years our mandate has expanded to be more intersectional and include other marginalized and underrepresented groups in classical music. All of our concerts feature at least 50% works by women!

Even though performing works by women composers has always been important to us, this is our first International Women's Day concert, and we're very excited about it!

Adding to the Canadian music canon

In 2023 we ran a call for scores for emerging composers in Ontario, and performed a selection of incredible music from ontario-based composers. We decided we wanted to support the creation of new music even more, so we fundraised to commission a piece from one of our winners, Neva Tesolin - this concert features the piece she has written for us, as well as her winning composition from our call for scores, the string quartet "Pastures."

A huge thank you to our sponsors for this event, and those who donated to make the commission of Neva Tesolin's new work possible!
