Event description

This free one hour webinar is designed for criminal law practitioners interested in potential overlaps with prison law issues. It will also serve as an introduction to prison law for lawyers with limited experience in this area. Our presenter Eric Purtzki, who practices in criminal, immigration and prison law in Vancouver, will share some of his insight on how prison law issues can impact criminal procedures and how criminal lawyers can prepare for the likelihood of release in the correctional context. Some of the topics covered in this course will include: client relations (communication issues and dealing with difficult clients), internal disciplinary processes and their potential impact on ongoing criminal procedures, and an overview of some of the factors that influence the granting of parole and statutory release.

Participants in this course may claim up to 1 hour of CPD credits, including 0.5hrs of 'ethics' credit.
