The Social Planning Network of Ontario (SPNO) Community of Practice on Equity and Inclusion for Low-Income Students and Families is pleased to be partnering with leading experts and voices in the field to bring you this unique webinar series that looks at the impacts of poverty and classism on low-income students and their families.

Please join us on November 19th for our first Interview in this Series, with Dr. Paul Gorski, Educator, Professor, Author and Champion for all things Equity. Dr. Gorksi will be presenting the most recent version of his book titled: "Reaching and Teaching Students in Poverty: Strategies for Erasing the Opportunity Gap."

Paul will present Equity Literacy as a Framework for exploring and challenging all intersecting forms of discrimination. He will also introduce the Opportunity Gap as the preferred alternative to the Achievement Gap, The opportunity gap removes responsibility for academic outcomes from the students (blaming the victim) and places it squarely on the system’s failure to address the inequities faced by low-income students that significantly reduce their chances for success.

The presentation will be followed by a Q and A opportunity for participants.

Thank you in advance for sharing this unique learning opportunity with your peers and colleagues. We look forward to having you join us on the 19th.
