NBIS presents:

Intimate Partner Violence & Acquired Brain Injury

Every year thousands of Canadian women experience intimate partner violence (IPV) potentially causing disabling permanent traumatic brain injuries (TBI). This connection, and its implications, is still left largely unexplored.

Nanaimo Brain Injury Society, in partnership with Haven Society, Society for Equity, Inclusion and Advocacy, Nanaimo Family Life Association, and Island Health, are bringing together front-line workers, people with lived experience, service providers, and the public to understand the intersection of IPV and brain injury. Our goal is to work together to improve care for those affected.

Through presentations, workshops, and discussion you’ll learn about current research, tools and resources, and future directions for support services from leading experts in the field (Presenters from University of Toronto and University of British Columbia). Lunch will be provided.

Then on Thursday, February 6 (9:30 -11:30 am) a dialogue for service providers and community will bring forward next steps and recommendations (Beban Park Social Centre, Room 7 & 8).

Tickets: $50 (Professionals, Community Organizations & other Community Members)

Early Bird Rate: $25 (before Jan. 16th)

Community Tickets: FREE (people with lived experience and/or financial barriers)

We invite people with lived experience and/or financial barriers to attend at NO COST with this Community Ticket option.  We would like this event to be accessible to ALL. Your registration fee helps to support this event.
