A 6-week virtual empowerment program for Canadians who have been impacted by the stress and stigma of a parent's substance use.
About this event
If you have been affected by the stress and/or stigma related to a parent's substance use such as opioids, alcohol, or other, and are 16 years old and up, this peer group is for you!
In this 6 week peer program, a variety of peers from university students to parents, will lead the group through the Forward with Hope Guide, a 100 page guide of stories and information for impacted individuals:
Key focus areas include:
- increasing your understanding of how your childhood stress can be impacting your emotions, behaviours, and well-being today
- consider and find, " who are my safe people and spaces" and where do I find them
- see and support your strength and resilience
- feel connected t a peer community through story telling
- confidently navigate and connect with systems and community supports
- increasing your sense of hope and belonging
The cost of the program includes the program, as well as the cost of a hardcopy of the peer guide, journal, and other materials as well as shipping within Canada, and includes meeting dates on July 7, 14, 21, 28, August 4 and 11 (sorry, no refunds available).
