Event description

Description

The Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship Society (OSS) is putting on a Free introduction to birding presentation followed by a nature walk.

Always wanted to learn more about birds but don't know where to start? Learning more about local birds can be a little overwhelming especially in such a beautiful and diverse place. Local Bird expert Matthais Bieber will give a presentation on how to identify birds. We will bring a selection of bird books and walk through the steps to identifying the birds that you see. He will also talk a little bit about feeding birds and about what to look for when choosing binoculars.

Then we will head outside and go for a walk to look for birds and practice our new skills. There will also be an OSS staff member who will be able to identify common plants and wildflowers along the way. If there is a very large group we may need to split into 2 and do a short flower walk and a short birding walk.

What to bring

-Walking shoes

-Water bottle

-Bird books and Binoculars if you have them

-Dress for the weather as we will be outside for part of the time

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact OSS staff by phone at 250-770-1467 or email to info@osstewardship.ca
