Event description

Description

Come, stitch back and relax with us!

In this Introduction to Cross Stitching at DVLB in Waterloo, learn the basics of one of the simplest forms of embroidery, counted cross stitching, with some fun designs. This workshop will have an exclusive NATURE theme as we stitch a greeting card and fabric design!

Throughout our 2-hour workshop, you will be learning about how to prep your hoop and needle, how to start your first stitch, how to wrap up your thread, how to finish your hoop for display, while working through your choice of any nature-themed card and fabric cross stitch patterns. You will leave this workshop learning a new skill and taking home your own work-in-progress or finished pattern to display or gift.

All materials and supplies are provided. This is a hands-on workshop where participants will receive :
  • Nature-themed greeting card and envelope
  • a cross stitch 101 guide
  • instructions for their preferred pattern
  • a wooden embroidery hoop
  • a piece of fabric
  • a tapestry needle
  • DMC embroidery thread to complete the pattern (with excess thread if you want to add in any customization)
Beginners are welcomed. Experience is not required, so come stitch back and relax at one of my favourite cafes in KW! DVLB coffee and tea will be provided.

For a preview of designs you will be able to select at the start of the workshop, check out YHCrossStitchDesigns.etsy.com.

More designs will be released every month leading up to the workshop. For more updates, follow @YHCrossStitchDesigns on Instagram.

So... why should I try cross stitch & embroidery?
*Anyone can do it. You don’t need to be an experienced stitcher or embroiderer in order to learn.
*Expand your creativity. The different stitching techniques, shapes, fabrics, hoops, patterns, colours you’re exposed to create pre-made or custom patterns helps with nurturing your creativity. There are many ways you can customize pre-made patterns and add in your special touch with your project or when you display it.
*Relieve any stress. It’s a therapeutic hobby that you can pick up anytime and anywhere. Embroidery is meditative.
