Want to learn how to solder? Missed your chance at the Maker Festival Toronto? Hacklab is offering a learn how to solder class for beginners, using the snowbot and rocket ship kits from the festival! You'll learn the process of soldering, which is how electronic components get attached to printed circuit boards (PCBs) to make functional circuits. The process involves a (hot) soldering iron and solder, a metal with a very low melting point.
The kit is snowbot or rocket ship: a 3 LED (light emiting diode, they are tiny high-efficiency high-brightness lights) kit which uses a CR2032 coin-cell battery. You can choose your LEDs from amongst a vast assortment of colors and styles!
Tickets on eventbrite are free (we're using them to control arrival times, as you see below - please don't be late!), but there is a PWYC minimum $3 cost for each snowbot or rocket ship kit you will pay at the event, so bring some coins or small bills. This covers our materials cost and any additional you donate helps support hacklab, a technology community space in Parkdale. We share resources, tools and expertise so that people can do fun things with tech.
