Introduction to Adlerian Psychology is an introductory course that surveys the core theoretical tenets of Adlerian psychology.

This course is open to the general public. The course teaches Masters level material from a Doctorate level educator with decades of Adlerian knowledge in both academic and practice settings.

Course Components:

This course is 4 weeks total, meeting once per week for class instruction from 9am - 4pm PST. It is eligible for 2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Intro to Adlerian Psychology may be taken as a standalone 4-week course, or, as part of the 8-week Certificate in Parent Education Program...

* Certificate in Parent Education is an 8-week program providing skills and tools to conceptualize and offer parenting support using a holistic Adlerian approach. If you are registering for the Certificate in Parent Education, you do not need to register for Intro to Adler separately.

The 8 course dates are Sundays, from 9:00am - 4:00pm PST:

  • September 10th, September 17th, September 24th
  • October 1st

Classes are held in-person at SFU Harbour Centre. It is not recorded and not available online.

Tuition:

$550 (plus non-refundable Eventbrite registration fees)

This workshop is eligible for 2 CEUs.

Assessment:

Courses are assessed entirely on a “Pass” or “No Pass” basis with competency feedback. Students may also be issued a “Remediation” which will specify additional work, or alteration of existing work, before a final grade is issued.

You will be given a Certificate of Completion after the course is finished and you have passed the course modules.

This course is facilitated Dr. Chris Shelley (Ph.D., CAC, CCC-S.)

Chris is the clinical director of The Adler Centre, a not-for-profit counselling and teaching clinic in Vancouver operated by the Adlerian Psychology Association of BC. He has been an Adlerian educator and therapist in both England and Canada having taught for the Adlerian Society UK (London) and at The University of British Columbia - lecturing in the Faculty of Arts and also the graduate program in Counselling Psychology. Additionally, he is a clinical supervisor for City University of Seattle (Vancouver campus) and the author of various scholarly works in the fields of counselling, psychotherapy, theoretical psychology, and gender – social justice studies.

Refund Policy

Refunds before the program of study begins:

1. If written notice of withdrawal is received by the institution within 7 days after the contract is made, and before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract, the institution may retain 5% of the total tuition and fees due under the contract to a maximum of $250

2. If written notice of withdrawal is received by the institution 30 days or more before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract and more than 7 days after the contract was made, the institution may retain 10% of total tuition only due under the contract to a maximum of $1000

3. If written notice of withdrawal is received by the institution less than 30 days before the commencement of the period of instruction specified in the contract, and more than 7 days after the contract was made, the institution may retain 20% of the total tuition only, due under the contract to a maximum of $1300

Refunds after the program of study starts:

1. If written notice of withdrawal is received by the institution or a student is dismissed before 10% of the period of instruction specified in the contract has elapsed, the institution may retain 30% of the institution due under the contract.

2. If written notice of withdrawal is received by the institution, or a student is dismissed after 10% and before 30% of the period of instruction specified in the contract has elapsed, the institution may retain 50% of the tuition due under the contract

3. If a student withdraws or is dismissed after 30% of the period of instruction specified in the contract has elapsed, no refund is required.

Refund Process

1. Students may request a refund via Eventbrite or by contacting the institution at 604-742-1818 or info@adlercentre.ca

2. Refunds required under this policy will be paid to the student, or a person who paid the tuition or fees on behalf of the student, within 30 days.

3. There is a $50.00 non-refundable fee for each registration to Introduction to Adlerian Psychology.
