Event Details

**THIS IS AN ONLINE COURSE THROUGH OCAD. LIVE SEMINARS WITH THE INSTRUCTOR ARE HELD ON MONDAYS FROM 7:00PM-8:00PM WITH THE INSTRUCTOR. THERE WILL BE 6 SESSIONS, FROM MONDAY NOVEMBER 6 TO MONDAY DECEMBER 11**

This is a hands-on, fast-paced course where students gain the technical skills to create motion graphics, animation, and special effects for video. 

Online courses are delivered through a series of tutorials and related assignments which students may complete at their own pace on our Learning Management System, Canvas. On the course dates the instructor will conduct a live seminar from 7-8 pm. The content of live seminars will be archived and available to students to access at other times. The instructor is also available throughout the course time period for questions and discussions. Students will have access to Canvas one week before the course begins and two weeks after the course is complete. Please note that new students will receive their log in information and network credentials by email directly from our IT department one week before the course start date. If you do not receive your log in credentials, please check your spam folder and contact our office. Returning students can use the same credentials from previous courses.

For online Adobe classes, students are responsible for purchasing their own software for class. Trial versions of the software are sometimes available on the company website, but at this time there are no discounts available for Continuing Studies students.

Instructor:

Karen Justl, MDes 

Karen Justl is an illustrator who is fascinated by the neuroscience of facial expression and emotion. She holds a Masters of Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto and a BFA Honors in painting from The University of Manitoba. She is conducting her illustrative research in caricature, facial expression, body language, stand-offs, and confrontation. Her illustrations have been published in magazines across Canada, including The Mark, subTerrain, Herizons, Pilot Project and Crow`s Toes. She has indulged in a series of self-published and collaborative illustration work including the striking, Art Slut Comix, 1992; Pear Comix, 1993 and; The Bird (cage), 2009. In 1992/93 her comix traveled around Canada in a Fantagraphics show called Misfit Lit. Her series People and Their Problems won a prize and made an appearance in Applied Art magazine in 2009. Her work is showcased in Broken Pencil`s folio section for the Canzine Issue, October, 2010 and cover to cover in subTerrain Magazine, July, 2011. Her most recent project is a book of door knockers and mug-shots that she researched in Florence, Italy titled 'How Woeful.'

No, this event is only open to DGC and GAP members currently in Good Standing, who have pre-paid and registered for this event through this page. There will be no payments taken at the door.

Yes, please bring your ticket as confirmation of your registration.

What is the refund policy?

If you notify the Training department within 1 business day of the event that you can no longer attend, you may request a refund for the course. Once a course has taken place, you are not able to receive a refund.
